What to eat before a 07:00 class
Train fasted, eat a banana, or have a full breakfast at five? A simple rule for early sessions, and what to eat afterwards.

Half the 07:00 class trains on an empty stomach. The other half ate something in the car. Both groups ask me the same question: am I doing it wrong?
The rule
If the session is short and you slept well, you can train without eating. If it is long, heavy or conditioning-based, eat something small thirty to sixty minutes before.
Small means small: a banana, a slice of toast with honey, a glass of juice. Carbohydrate, easy to digest, nothing that sits in your stomach during swings.
Coffee counts
A coffee twenty minutes before class is the cheapest performance boost there is. Drink water with it.
After class
This is the meal that matters. Within a couple of hours, eat a normal breakfast with protein in it: eggs, yoghurt, skyr, whatever you like. Most people under-eat protein in the morning and wonder why they feel flat by lunch.
Listen to the session
If you feel dizzy or weak halfway through Engine, you need to eat before next time. If you feel heavy and sick, eat less or earlier. Your body tells you within two weeks.
